How do I order an item of furniture or joinery and how much will it cost ? You may be asking. Well I hope to put your mind at rest with explaining how it works. Firstly after a call or an e-mail from you I will arrange a home visit to discuss your exacting requirements . I will make sketches and take measurements and get some idea of what style your preference is, traditional, modern, contemporary or if you have an idea that is unusual or unique. Even if all you have is a photograph of an item you would like, I can work from these too.
Once the thoughts of your design are established, I will make an appointment to return with some scale drawings for your approval and then be able to give you an estimate of the cost.
I will then return with any modifications to the plans you have asked for and give you an accurate cost of the work. If this is acceptable to you I will then take a 25% deposit and provide you with an estimate of how long the work will take and a starting date.
Once the work is complete I will then contact you to arrange delivery. Some of the larger pieces will need to be assembled on site and in this case I will make sure that everything is left clean and tidy after all the work is completed.
How much does it cost to have a unique piece of woodwork commissioned ? You will undoubtedly find that it is a higher cost than the furniture you can buy from one of the high street superstores or DIY outlets, but of course it is of a much higher quality too. I think you will be surprised at the cost to you as it is probably lower than you think for something that is hand crafted. I aim to make my furniture and work affordable to all and do not charge the high prices you would see in modern galleries.
All of the work is done with a passion for the job and nothing is ever rushed no matter how big or small the commission, I treat each piece as if it were my own.
I work in all woods and man made materials such as Hardwood, Softwood and MDF.
